Majors - Little League Baseball
Typically 11 and 12 year olds (grades 5 and 6). Baseball age 10 can declare up but not guaranteed.
LOGISTICS
Schedule:
- Begins when the weather is warm enough and the ground is dry enough (targeting mid-March to early April)
- 2 to 3 Days per Week – can vary weekly - final schedule established by the division director closer to the start of the season
- Weekdays (Games normally start at 6:00 pm) and Saturdays (varies) Games & Practices run between 1.5-Hours to 2-Hours
- Practices & Games take place at Coopersburg Living Memorial Park's Majors and Minor A Fields; and the Upper Saucon Park's Majors Field
Games:
- 6-Inning games – Players pitch - Umpires
- Format: 50/70
- Pitching distance is 50 feet
- Base paths are 70 feet
- Unlimited stealing and leading
- Teams keep track of score
- Infield Fly Rule is in effect
- Dropped 3rd strike rule is in effect
- 5 run limit per inning
EXPECTATIONS
For the Kids:
- To have consistent mechanics and a thorough knowledge of baseball
For the Parents:
- To cheer for (not instruct) all kids of all teams during games
- To help with field preparation & clean-up before & after games
- To run the snack stand.
By the end of the season, your child will learn:
- Good Sportsmanship/Teamwork
- Playing Competitively in a Team Environment
EQUIPMENT
The league provides:
- Team Shirt
- Team Baseball Hat
- Catcher’s Gear
Your child will need:
- Personal Baseball Glove
- Baseball Pants (color determined by individual coaches)
- Batting Helmet
- Baseball Bat ("USA BASEBALL" approved)
- Water Bottles (games & practices)
- Protective cup
- Baseball Cleats (Rubber molded only, metal cleats are not allowed)
- Batting Gloves (Optional)
